Alzheimers and Dementia Help, Information and Support in the San Francisco East Bay

As a real estate agent who often works with senior adults in the selling of their homes in Contra Costa county, I’ve occasionally come across family members dealing with the heartbreaking scenario of watching their loved one develop dementia or Alzheimers.

So I thought I’d put together a blog post that offered resources for both family members and individuals dealing with these two wrenching diseases.

The link below provides a wealth of Alzheimers and dementia information, resources, support groups and more all across the East Bay, from Walnut Creek to Pleasant Hill to Concord to Orinda.

Walnut Creek Dementia Workshop

The third Friday of each month from 10am to noon, Eldercare Services in Walnut Creek holds a free workshop providing an overview of dementia and practical applications and situations a caregiver is likely to face. They also present a short film on how to communicate with those with dementia more effectively.

As anyone who’s watched a loved one slip into dementia knows, the stress on a caregiver – usually a family member – can be extreme. This workshop also presents techniques and skills for mainatining your own health and peace of mind while coping with such a hearbreaking situation. To RSVP: Call (925) 937-2018 three days before the class.
