Rightsizing ; The Best Example

Lisa Your of Meyer Realty in Louisville, Kentucky was searching for a real estate broker that could help her Father-in-Law in Walnut Creek, CA sell his home. Allen has lived in the 1 story town-home with his wife for 18 years. His wife had passed and Allen was going to move to Louisville to be closer to family. Lisa and I have great conversation and she suggested I make an appointment to meet Allen to see if I could help him sell his home.

The home was dated and needed a little cosmetic updating. Allen understood that paint; flooring, and a few other updates would help us get a much higher price. My excitement was not only helping Allen, but his single level Walnut Creek town-home was in very high demand for other Seniors wanting to downsize.

Lisa and her husband, Steve, came out from Louisville to help Allen dispose of all the belongings we accumulate and we planned the strategy of up dating the house to get the best price. I introduced them to Julie Couch of Angel Staging, a staging and Senior’s downsize company I have worked with for close to 10 years. Julie and her crew do a great job. We scheduled to clearing of stuff that was going to be donated, items that Allen was going to have shipped to Louisville, and the rest of the items would be brought to the dump.

It took about a week to get the home painted, flooring installed, and staged so it would be ready to go on the market. TI had 3 strong offers the first day that the town-home hit the market. Allen accepted the offer he liked the best, which happened to be a Senior that was living in Rossmoor, an over 55 adult community in Walnut Creek that was not to her liking. She was looking for and found a “level-on” one-story home close to everything including her broker that lived in the same community, San Marco.

After fairly short escrow period, and a few items that need to be completed, her escrow a transition will be complete. Allen found a town-home close to his family that was new construction- so the short escrow period worked out perfectly. Both parties are happy and living a new lifestyle that accommodates their current needs.
