It was announced in the local Patch yesterday that Walnut Creek, CA is one of the best cities to raise a family in within the USA! The Patch sourced the information from niche.com, which has determined that Walnut Creek is one of the top 25 towns in which to raise a family in California. Ranked on the list are the top 100 towns in which to raise a family in the Golden State. The sampling excludes suburbs and cities with more than 100,000 residents, and is based on school ratings, crime rates, age demographics, and access to affordable housing and childcare.
As a real estate broker who specializes in downsizing, I agree! I grew up in Walnut Creek and I have seen it change. And while apartments and traffic have not been changes for the better, many of our traditions and the technology growth have added to the character of the city, improved land value, and have helped my senior clientele transition into better housing options while opening up first-time home buying opportunities for younger families!
We have so much to offer when living in Walnut Creek, at any stage. For example, according to BestPlaces.net, “The area has a lot going for it: exceptional arts and cultural activities, plenty of history and sense of place, a strong commercial and financial core; and all the education and services anyone could want. The climate is one of the most unusual in the world, and the area is among the most ethnically and socially diverse in the country. The many world-famous tourist attractions- Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, the cable car system, hilltop residential enclaves, and the wine country to the north- mix with considerable local entertainment and culture to make the city one of the most interesting and fun places to live in the country.”
There are tons of restaurants, the family calendar locally is always full, the school district is phenomenal, and lets not even discuss how great our local shopping is (if you need a reminder, click here).
