Walnut Creek for Newcomers

Walnut Creek, CA

If you are thinking about moving to Walnut Creek, California but do not know too much about this amazing town then you have come to the right place. I have been born and raised here, building my entire real estate career in the Walnut Creek valley. Many of us still remember how our neighborhoods were simply called: ‘Paradise in a Nutshell’. Indeed, just 45 minutes from San Francisco you found yourself in a suburban community that is one of the nicest in the Bay area.

Weather

One thing that makes the Bay Area a different place is its microclimates. In the Summer time Walnut Creek is 25-30 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than San Francisco. It is quite a nice place to come home to especially if you are a frequent visitor in San Francisco. Often when it is very chilly in SF, the weather is quite beautiful in our paradise.

Downtown

Walnut Creek boasts it’s own business and shopping center, therefore you do not need to travel far to enjoy dinging out or shopping right at home. Shopping downtown is excellent which offers upscale stores similar to what you would find in downtown San Francisco, only smaller. Broadway Plaza has around a hundred stores form Coach, Burberry, Macy’s, Nordstrom or J. Crew. Once you are done with your shopping you don’t have to go far to find great restaurants in the area either. Are you looking for some seafood? Try Scott’s Restaurant & Bar if you prefer fresh, locally sourced and organic ingredients. If you are ready for something a bit more upscale then try The Peasant & the Pear with its award-winning California cuisine.

Mt. Diablo State Park

Incredible panoramic views are waiting for you on the top of the summit. This is a great place to go for a walk or a hike and it is only a short distance from Walnut Creek on #680. From the very top looking to the west, you can see beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Farallon Islands; southeast to the James Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton at 4,213 feet elevation; or to the east beyond California’s great central valley, the crest of the Sierra Nevada seems to float in space. This park really is one mesmerizing place.
